The readings for today focuses on “words”. In the Prophecy of Isaiah, it says; “Thus say the Lord: Just as from the heavens the rain and snow come down. And do not return there till they have watered the earth… So shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth; it shall not return to me void…” In the gospel of Mathew, Jesus instructs His disciples, “In praying, do not babble like the pagans, who think that they will be heard because of their many words.” Jesus is the word of God by whom all things came into being. He came into the world to do the Father’s will, and only after it was accomplished did He return to the Father. In this Lenten season and in our moments of prayers, there is no need to babble empty words; following the pattern of the Lord’s Prayer; give thanks, seek reconciliation, ask for your daily needs, and worship God.
Prayer
Grant to your children almighty God and Father, the gift of dwelling in your Son, Jesus who is your word. That by abiding in Him, we also may learn to utter words of grace, truth, forgiveness and peace. Grant this through Him who reconciles us to you and one another. Amen
Action
Today commit to uttering warm, loving, forgiving and uplifting words to others, especially if there is anyone estranged from you.
